As the Seattle Pacific University spring season came to a close, golf finished out their spring season while rowing raced three boats at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association championship. Track and field raced their final two meets before the outdoor GNAC championship.
Rowing
In Gold River, California, Seattle Pacific rowing competed in the WIRAs on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26. Three boats raced in the women’s varsity 8+, women’s varsity 4+ and the women’s novice 4+.
The V8+ boat raced into fourth place with a time of 6:58.9 minutes, losing second place by two tenths of a second to the California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt and third place to University of Puget Sound.
The V8+ boat lineup was freshman Solanes Capps-Mace, junior Amelia Pape, junior Emma Jones, freshman Miriam Dykstra, junior Bella Linesby, sophomore Emmerson Spencer, sophomore Grace Combs and senior Gem Gatmaytan. Senior Lexi Royball served as coxswain.
The varsity 4+ took fourth place with a time of 8:31.22 minutes, the third-fastest time out of all six boats going to the petite final.
The V4+ lineup was Hollebeek, sophomore Elizabeth Chapman, senior Racquel Wesley, senior Brittain Dalberg and senior Aleksia Haugen as coxswain.
The novice 4+ finished second in 9:06.49 minutes during their preliminary heat.
The N4+ boat was coxswained by sophomore Freya Meyers-Arnoult with lineup freshman Kaitlin Hollebeek, freshman Joy Hill, freshman Lexi Shrock and freshman Angelina Termure.
Women’s rowing will compete at the Windermere Cup on Saturday, May 2, at the Montlake Cut in Seattle, Washington.
Track and field
On Friday, April 24, the Seattle Pacific Falcons track and field team competed in the Pee Wee Halsell Invitational at Civic Stadium of Bellingham, Washington.
Senior Nathaniel Gale placed first in the men’s open 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:45.38 minutes.
In the women’s open 100-meter hurdles, senior Hannah Chang took first place with a time of 14.03 seconds, setting a personal season best.
On Saturday, April 25, the Falcons competed at the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational, which also took place at Civic Stadium.
Senior Maya Ewing placed first in the women’s 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:28.98 seconds.
In the men’s 5,000-meter race, senior Isaac Venable placed third with a time of 15:03.30.
Sophomore Andrew Bell placed second in the men’s 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.09 seconds.
Freshman Tawaf Aboudou also placed second in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 21.48 seconds, beating his previous record of 21.60 seconds set on March, 28 2026. Aboudou also finished first in the men’s long jump with a distance of 7.31 meters.
In the field events, junior Mikel Saxon finished third in the men’s pole vaulting event, with a distance of 4.40 meters.
The track and field team will meet again from Monday, May 4 to Tuesday, May 5, in Ellensburg, Washington, at the Central Washington University Recreation Sports Complex for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships.
Womens Golf
From Monday, April 20, to Wednesday, April 22, in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, Seattle Pacific women’s golf team concluded its spring season by placing second at the 2026 GNAC Championship.
Sophomore Lauren Lee won first place in individual scoring with a total of 225 points at the end of three days. Junior Zoe Garcia tied for fourth with an individual score of 228 points.
Women’s golf will begin again in the 2026 autumn quarter.
