Seattle Pacific University’s Area Council held their annual dance, All Hall Ball, at the Fremont Foundry on Friday, May 8. The masquerade-themed dance featured something new on every floor of the venue, including board games, mask making and a student DJ set. The roof provided a view of Fremont and multiple photo opportunities.
The first floor featured a dance floor with live music. Second year psychology student Quinn Ryan explained his role as the featured DJ of the event.
“I was getting the crowd on the dance floor, keeping them dancing, and bringing them back every time they left,” Ryan said.
Overseeing the event was Interim Coordinator Susan Nash, the advisor of Area Council. Nash was excited to be a part of the planning process.
“Something that is so special about [Area Council] is that it is so student-driven and student focused. It is very much fielded from students who are here right now. Students can feel heard and seen, and we can make that a reality. All Hall Ball specifically is a very special thing, to see everyone from the halls and all be there in a safe space,” Nash said.
Chris Alcaide, a third year student studying English and social justice is the current President of Area Council. Alcaide explained that the Area Council planned the All Hall Ball with the intention of helping students meet new people.
“So many people come to All Hall Ball that you are bound to make a new friend. It is a really cool event,” Alcaide said.
