SPU student injured in collision involving vehicle

SPD responds to incident at West Nickerson Street and Third Avenue West

An unidentified Seattle Pacific University student was injured in a collision involving a vehicle on Thursday, Feb. 29 at approximately 6:50 p.m.. The incident occurred at the West Nickerson Street and Third Avenue West crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and assisted in the investigation process.

A call was made to 911 at 6:50 p.m., and two fire trucks and a police vehicle arrived at the scene between 6:55 p.m. and 6:57 p.m.. The student was lying on the ground in the middle of the crosswalk opposite Royal Brougham Pavilion. Bystanders watched on the street corners, some helping the injured student by directing passing vehicles.

Emergency responders came to the student’s aid, providing a neck brace before lifting them onto a stretcher and into an ambulance for transport to a nearby hospital. The Seattle Police Department commented that the student’s condition was non-life-threatening and no impairment was found.

Multiple SPU students witnessed the accident and gave their reports to SPD.

    Thank you for this article. I’m so relieved to learn that her injuries aren’t life-threatening. My family has been very worried. The driver ran a red light and hit her at full speed. Horrible, and very scary. We will check back on the falcon in case any news of her recovery is shared. Thoughts are with her.
