With the GNAC championship right around the corner, Seattle Pacific University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams played their final conference games. Men’s basketball landed one of the six qualifying spots in the GNACs. Women’s golf played their second tournament of the spring season.
Women’s Basketball
Seattle Pacific University’s women’s basketball played against Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington on Thursday, Feb. 26, where they lost 43-72. Freshman Cascadia Yates went three-for-three on her 3-point attempts and scored a career-high of 11 points in the game.
On Saturday, Feb. 28, Seattle Pacific Falcons played against Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada for the team’s last game of the season. They lost to Simon Frasier 64-78. Redshirt sophomore Grace Turley led the attack for the Falcons with 18 points and an 8-for-17 shooting average. Redshirt freshman Julia Lavigne recorded her first double-double of her SPU career with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Seattle Pacific women’s 2025-2026 basketball season is now over, and they did not qualify for the GNAC Championships. They end their season with a conference record of 4 wins, 14 losses.
Men’s basketball
Seattle Pacific men’s basketball celebrated their senior night during the game against Montana State University Billings in Royal Brougham Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 28. The Falcons beat Billings 87-85 with an overall shooting percentage of 57.7. Before the game, seniors Logan Kinloch, Julian Mora, Grant Coleman and Nikias Schoenerstedt were celebrated. This secured the Falcon’s spot in the GNAC Championships, eliminating Montana State Billings from the running.
Up next, Seattle Pacific men’s basketball will be playing in the GNAC Championships in the opening round at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington on Thursday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Women’s Golf
At the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Monday, Feb. 23 and Tuesday, Feb. 24, Seattle Pacific women’s golf placed sixth among the 19 schools competing. The team shot the lowest single-round score in program history on the first day at 297 points.
Junior Zoe Garcia set the program record with her individual score of 68 points in the first round and matched her score round two. Sophomore Lauren Lee shot a personal best of 71 on round one, beating her previous score of 72 earlier in the season.
Women’s golf will return for the Southern Colorado Open in Pueblo, Colorado on Sunday, March 22 and Monday, March 23.
