Continuing in the GNAC conference, Seattle Pacific University men’s and women’s basketball faced two double-headers in Alaska. Both teams are fighting to stay in the top six spots to qualify for the GNAC Tournament.
Women’s Basketball
Seattle Pacific women’s basketball played against the University of Alaska, Anchorage on Thursday, Jan. 22 in Anchorage, Alaska. Winning 101-98, SPU set a new program record of 19 three-pointers scored throughout the game. This was Seattle Pacific’s first victory against Anchorage since 2018.
In Fairbanks, Alaska on Saturday, Jan. 24, Seattle Pacific women’s basketball played against the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Falcons won 69-56. The effort was led by junior Layne Kearns, who scored a career-high of 32 points.
Next weekend the Falcons will be on the road again, playing Montana State University, Billings in Billings, Montana on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Men’s Basketball
Seattle Pacific University men’s basketball played against University of Alaska, Anchorage in Anchorage, Alaska on Thursday, Jan. 22. The Falcons lost 50-54. Senior Trace Evans led the Falcons with a game-high of 18 points and eight rebounds.
In Fairbanks Alaska, Saturday, Jan. 24 SPU men’s basketball faced University of Alaska, Fairbanks. The Falcons beat UAF 82-75. Redshirt junior Jullian Mora matched his career-high of 26 points in a game.
Next, the Falcons went back on the road again to play against Western Oregon University on Thursday, Jan. 29. They will play Saint Martin’s University on Saturday, Jan. 31.
