Seattle Pacific University’s Falcons had yet another eventful week as the men’s soccer played two games at home, and the women’s soccer and volleyball traveled to their away games.
Men’s Soccer
On Thursday, Oct. 30, Seattle Pacific’s men’s soccer team played against Western Oregon University at Interbay Soccer Stadium.
The game started with WOU taking the lead with a goal in the 13th and 68th minutes. The Falcons attempted to counter in the 78th minute when senior Orlando Erazo ricocheted a shot off the left post. In the 81st minute, junior Owen Swartout smashed the ball on the same post. The game ended with a 0-2 Falcon loss.
The Falcons had a total of 18 shots on goal this game. Graduate student Brian Lanier played as goalkeeper all 90 minutes of this game, saving 12 of the 14 shots from Western Oregon. The number of fouls from each side were 34.
At Interbay Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 1, SPU opened their game against Saint Martin’s University with a pregame ceremony to honor the Falcon seniors’ dedication and contribution to the team.
All 11 seniors started the game on the field. The Falcons secured their lead in the 35th minute when senior Jackson Goode headed the ball into the net with help from a corner kick by senior Connor Tollan. This was Goode’s third goal of the season and fifth of his career at SPU in total.
The Falcons maintained control of the game when Nick Ramoso assisted Christian Chel Lara’s lower left corner shot in the 76th minute, his fourth goal of the season. This brought the score to 2-0.
Saint Martins scored with a shot made from 14 yards out in the 85th minute.
Seattle Pacific took 21 shots on goal during the match, this effort obtained the Falcon’s first 10-win season since 2021, and their 43rd in program history.
The Falcons will play against Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho to end the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 12 p.m.
Women’s Soccer
Seattle Pacific played against Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington on Thursday, Oct. 30. Two goals were scored by WWU within the first 20 minutes of the first half. The Falcons lost 0-2.
The Falcons played again on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. The game ended in a 2-2 draw with senior Kayla Wallace tying up the match in the 88th minute, making this her eighth goal this season.
The Falcons will start their final weekend of the regular season, playing Montana State University Billings in Billings, Montana on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m.
VolleyballSPU A
Seattle Pacific’s volleyball team played in Ellensburg, Washington against Central Washington University on Thursday, Oct. 30. Seattle Pacific lost in three sets: the first was lost 14-25, the second 11-25 and the third 17-25. During the match, freshman Megan Omlid led the Falcons with nine kills.
In Nampa, Idaho on Saturday, Nov. 1, Seattle Pacific beat Northwest Nazarene University in four sets. The Falcons lost the first set 25-27, but won the other three 25-17, 25-21 and 25-20. Omlid recorded 19 kills and 11 digs, making this her 14th double-double this season. A record was also broken for junior Avery Veenendall, who got a career-high four aces during the match.
The Falcons play a home game against Montana State University Billings on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. in Royal Brougham Pavilion.
