The Seattle Pacific University Falcon’s soccer teams took four wins in four rematches during the week of Oct. 19. The women’s team beat Central Washington University and Northwest Nazarene University at Interbay Soccer Stadium. The men’s team traveled to Canada and Bellingham to face Simon Fraser University and Western Washington University.
Women’s Soccer:
On Thursday, Oct. 23, Seattle Pacific won against Central Washington 6-0 at Interbay Stadium. The Falcons shot 22 times over the game, 12 of which were on goal.
In minute 35, freshman Kylie Hendry scored her first career goal for the Falcons off the crossbar. She was assisted by sophomore Jes Lizotte and junior Ava Suarez. In minute 83, Suarez scored her first career goal for the Falcons, with an assist from freshman Peyton Dukes and sophomore Maddie Cooke.
The Falcons played at Interbay Stadium against Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday, Oct. 25. The game ended 1-0, the winning point scored by Wallace with an assist from Parman.
Six seniors are graduating women’s soccer this year: goalkeeper Mercedes Cullen, striker Kayla Wallace, midfielder Taylor Heit, midfielder/captain Maya Parman, striker Taylor Kruger and midfielder/defender Emily Morandi.
The Falcons will face Western Washington University on Thursday, Oct. 30 in Bellingham, Washington at 7 p.m.
Men’s Soccer:
On Thursday, Oct. 23, the Falcons beat Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Simon Fraser scored early, gaining the lead in the third minute of the game. The Falcons tied the game in the 26th minute due to a header from senior Jackson Goode, his first goal of the season. Freshman Kasey Toevs assisted with a throw-in near the end-line. The first half ended with a 1-1 tie. During the 60th minute, senior Orlando Erazo scored with a left-footed shot. He was assisted by a loft from junior Rafael Lucio. The match ended with a 3-1 win for the Falcons.
In Bellingham, Washington on Saturday, Oct. 25, Seattle Pacific won 4-1 against Western Washington University.
The Falcons scored early in the match due to junior Diego Pena-Salgado. In the 19th minute, Erazo scored the Falcons’ second goal with an assist from sophomore Lukas Shriner. The first half ended with the Falcons up 2-0. During the second half Sebastian Rangel scored from 23 yards away, shooting it past the right post. In the 72nd minute, Western Washington scored their only goal. The game ended with a Falcon win of 4-1.
Seattle Pacific will play Western Oregon University on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at Interbay Soccer Stadium.
