Women’s Volleyball
The Seattle Pacific University Falcons faced Western Washington University’s Vikings on Thursday, Oct. 23 in Royal Brougham Pavilion. The Falcons took the first set but lost to the Vikings 3-1.
In the opening set, the Falcons went on a 10-6 run to take the lead. Sophomore Amaya Evans had two kills during the run, while freshmen Megan Omlid, Maiaya Lester and Audra Rose each contributed one kill. The Falcons sealed the set with a 25-22 win.
Seattle Pacific carried their energy into the second set, starting with a 12-4 lead. However, the Vikings took the set at 21-25.
The third set brought the best of both teams with a 10-10 tie. Western Washington won the set 15-25. For the fourth and final set, the Vikings took a 16-25 win with an 11-5 run, sealing the game.
Omlid led the Falcons with 14 kills and 13 digs, making this the 12th double-double of her first season. Freshman Peyton Ensign had a career best of 17 assists. Junior Sophia Chambers had 24 assists, reaching her 1000th career assist mark.
Seattle Pacific faced the Simon Fraser University Red Leafs on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Royal Brougham Pavilion. The Falcons fell to a 2-3 loss.
The Red Leafs opened the match with a 19-15 run, setting them up for a 14-25 win over the first set. They kept their momentum in the second set, winning 18-25.
The Falcons made a 13-6 run to get their score up 25-23, winning the third set of the match. Omlid, Evans, freshman Madelyn Benjamin and sophomore Joslyn Greff all recorded two kills during the run.
The fourth set’s final score was 25-22, tying the game 2-2. Evans led the Falcons with two kills during the set.
At the final stretch, Simon Fraser rallied an 8-3 run to win 17-15 over the Falcons. Once again, Omlid led the Falcons with 14 kills and 10 digs, getting her 13th season double-double. Greff and Evans both finished with 13 kills, with Evans adding three block assists.
Chambers recorded a double-double with 23 assists and 16 digs. Ensign had a career high of 19 assists and 11 digs. Junior Christian Lopez had 16 digs, leading the Falcons on the defensive side.
The Falcons will face Central Washington University on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
Women’s Golf:
Seattle Pacific competed at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate Invitational at Waikoloa Beach Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 20-21, in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
The Falcons finished seventh in the invitational. Sophomore Zoe Garcia tied for 18th place. Garcia opened the tournament with a 77 in round one and finished with an 83 in round two. Senior Sara Rhodes followed with a steady performance, placing 28th. Rhodes shot an 83 in the first round and an 81 in the second. Junior Lauren Lee tied for 31st place after recording an 80 in round one and an 86 in round two.
Garcia recorded birdies on the seventh and 10th holes in round one, and the 16th hole in round two. Rhodes scored par on 16 of the 36 holes she played. Senior Natalie Eklund made a birdie in each round, while sophomore Anika Schau had three birdies in round one and ended the day with a 79.
Seattle Pacific competed at the Hawaii Pacific University Shark Shootout in Aiea, Hawaii on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25.
Lee finished in third-place after shooting a 77 in round one and an 88 in round two. Garcia followed close behind in fourth place, shooting a 79 in both rounds.
Eklund tied for 14th, shooting an 81 in round one and an 84 in round two. Rhodes finished 18th with scores of 82 and 86, while Schau rounded out the lineup in 27th after shooting an 87 and 86.
The Falcons’ performance marked their highest team finish in program history and closed out an impressive fall season.
SPU will prepare for their next competition at the California State Los Angeles Spring Kickoff on Feb. 2-3, 2026, at Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey, California.
Cross Country:
Seattle Pacific’s cross country teams took a trip to compete at the GNAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Billings, Montana. Sophomore Maya Ewing won her first GNAC cross country title. The women’s team secured second-place finish overall with a total of 92 points, the best finish since 2009 at the same championship. The men’s cross country team placed sixth overall.
Ewing earned the individual GNAC championship with a time of 21:04.7. Senior Anna Prussian got a career best ninth-place finish, earning the All-GNAC honors for the first time.
In the men’s heat, Seattle Pacific finished sixth overall with 151 points. Junior Avery Erickson placed 14th overall with a time of 24:52.2. He moved up from 26th place at the 4k mark to 15th place at the 6.6k mark before pushing past and getting his first sub-25 minute race since last year’s PacWest Championships.
Seattle Pacific will compete at the NCAA West regionals on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025 at Ash Creek in Monmouth, Oregon.
