Seattle Pacific University Men’s Basketball head coach Grant Leep has decided to step down from his position ahead of the 2023-2024 season. He is not retiring from coaching, however, as he is going to become an assistant coach for the Division 1 Men’s Basketball team at Seattle University.

It is unknown who will succeed Leep as the men’s basketball team’s head coach.

The men’s basketball team held a meeting on Wednesday, April 19, where the players were informed of Leep’s departure. According to Jacob Gray, a sophomore guard on the team, this was unexpected.

“It was kind of shocking for all of us, but not in a terrible way,” Gray said.

He emphasized that Leep’s departure would not fundamentally alter the character of the team.

“I don’t think it changes a lot. We all have the same goals,” Gray said.

While there has been no official announcement from either Seattle Pacific or Seattle University, it is expected that both universities will make announcements sometime in the coming weeks.
