On Thursday, Oct. 16, the Seattle Pacific University Falcons took a road trip to face the Western Oregon University Wolves in a GNAC conference match.
During the first set, the Falcons took an early lead halfway through in a 20-8 point game before finishing strong 25-17. Sophomore Joslyn Greff got five kills throughout the set, putting them up 1-0.
In the second set, the Falcons scored 25-14, putting them up 2-0. Sophomores Amaya Evans and Brooke Williams, along with freshman Megan Omlid, each put two kills on the board for the Falcons. During the third set, Western Oregon beat the Falcons 11-25, which marked a 2-1 overall score for the game.
Tied 19-19 in the fourth set, the Wolves won with a 6-2 run, ending the set 24-26 and tying the game 2-2.
In the fifth set, the Falcons put on a 5-1 run to win the game 15-11, their second consecutive road victory. The final score of the match was 3-2, with Omlid named player of the game with 14 kills and 20 digs.
Seattle Pacific faced the Saint Martin’s University Saints on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Lacey, Washington.
In the first set, the Falcons fell behind early on, however Omlid and Evans brought the Falcons to a tied score of 23-23. The Saints took the last two points of the set, starting the game 0-1.
Saint Martin’s took a 10-3 point lead early in the second set before they committed a service error. Once the ball was turned around to the Falcons, Seattle Pacific took on a 14-4 point run. However, the Saints took the game, setting the score at a 22-25 point game.
The Falcons lost the third set 24-26, ending the match at a 0-3 set loss. Omlid led Seattle Pacific with nine kills and 10 digs. Junior Sophia Chambers gave 15 assists to the team.
The Falcons will host the Western Washington University Vikings on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in Royal Brougham Pavilion.
