FEATURED EVENT — Styles Showcase
E.E. Bach Theater. May 21, 7:30 p.m.
Seattle Pacific University’s Styles of Acting class is hosting a showcase to share their different theatrical talents, including but not limited to musical comedy, cirque, Victorian theatre, Brechtian theatre, and improv. The showcase will serve as students’ final project.
“This will be truly a celebration of Theatre!” Candance Vance, the director of the show and instructor of the Styles of Acting class, said. “Lots of contrasting styles, which will make for a cabaret style evening of fun entertainment.”
SPU’s administration has decided to cut the Theatre department, leaving students without further classes to develop their talents. Attendance at the Styles Showcase is a great way to show support for the theatre program and encourage the arts at SPU.
“This is a devastating loss as many of us have missionally chosen to Engage the Culture and (at least try) to Change the World for the better through Theatre. I remain hopeful that President Porterfield and her cabinet will rethink this decision and reinstate the Theatre major. Based on her active engagement with our productions since her arrival to campus, I know that President Porterfield supports the art,” Vance said.
Tickets are $5. You can reserve them at spu.edu/boxoffice.
