Area Council’s biggest event of the year, All Hall Ball, is coming up this Saturday, May 17. The event starts at 7 p.m. at The Court in the Square, right in the heart of Downtown Seattle.
A significant amount of work went into making this year’s Ball extra special for the campus residents attending. Area Council’s business relations coordinator, sophomore in apparel design and fashion merchandising Eloise Dibble, noted how much thought was put into the theme itself.
“It took us so long and we were really late picking it out because there were too many decisions, and we didn’t all have a similar vision,” Dibble said. “It was crazy, we were making all kinds of vision boards. It was a really long process, but we landed on the New York High Fashion City Chic theme. We thought it’d be very fun and less formal, because I think the last couple of All Hall Ball themes were more formal, and we wanted something that was more upbeat and casual.”
In accordance to the theme, there will be New York style food options as well; pizza, cheesecake, charcuterie, rose mocktails and Shirley temples are on the menu for the evening. In Ashton Hall, there is also a music suggestion box, where students can have input in what they will be dancing to.
The newest aspect of All Hall Ball highlights the many artists on campus.
“I think the most interesting thing that we’re having that I don’t think we’ve had at other All Hall Balls is a student art gallery because at the venue, there’s this room that we had no idea what to do with and somebody came up with the idea to put student art in it,” said Dibble. “We’re also putting up the 5 minute portrait/caricature art from that event, if anyone was there. Some of those will be on the wall, so you might see yourself up there if you were at that event.”
The All Hall Ball is a staple to the culture of Seattle Pacific University where students of every year, major and residence hall can come together and celebrate the end of the year. Dibble commented:
“It’s a very cool opportunity for people to all come together and for there to be [a show of] community, which I think SPU has been very good at within res-life.”
