Falcons keep reaching for history books, devouring personal records.
The Seattle Pacific University track and field team traveled to the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, California, on Saturday, April 12.
Eight Falcons put up personal bests, making this meet a success for the team as a whole.
Track:
Freshman Robert Joshua ran the fastest time ever for a Falcon in the men’s 100-meter dash using the Fully Automatic Timing system, running it in 10.85 seconds, finishing 11th overall and breaking Jefferey Gordon’s FAT record of 10.89 seconds from May 14, 2021.
Joshua was nine seconds away from the all-time school record. Roy Duncan holds the SPU record in the men’s 100-yard dash at 9.6 seconds. Duncan’s record was recorded in 1956 using hand-held clocks and equates to a 10.74 second 100-meter dash in present-day.
Junior Hannah Chang ran a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.17 seconds, earning a top spot on the NCAA qualifying list. Her previous best was 14.30 on April 20, 2024, at the CWU Wildcat Invitational. Chang also finished with a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:06.65, beating her previous record of 1:07.18 on April 4th.

Brooks now owns both the outdoor and indoor records. He rewrote the indoor mark of 48.58 on Dec. 14, 2024, at the Spokane invitational, his college debut.
